Restavek: End Child Slavery

Good day, Everyone! I believe that as we achieve affluence for ourselves we should help others along the way. This post features a creatively presented request to help others using animation. The animation is 'Restavek: End Child Slavery in Haiti' by CoadyTNP.

Ending the enslavement of children is one step we can take in establishing as much global affluence as possible. No one else has to be 'down and out' or impoverished for me/anyone to 'up and in' or affluence.

International Philanthropy

International Philanthropy 101: A Framework for Going Global

Here's an enlightening, informational presentation entitled, "International Philanthropy 101: A Framework for Going Global" sharing where businesses, corporations, and their foundations are donating, generously, from the Entrepreneurs' Foundation.

"The Entrepreneurs Foundation (EF) Corporate Citizenship Conference is for companies to develop and strengthen their community involvement and philanthropy programs.

The Conference showcases corporate citizenship programs from a variety of large and small, public and private companies, and other celebrated experts who will address issues, trends, metrics, and best practices." ~ FORA.tv

Summary for International Philanthropy 101: A Framework for Going Global:

Is crafted for corporate practitioners who are considering establishing an international corporate giving program as well as those already active in international giving. This session included a discussion with corporate practitioners and non-profit organizations on the following topics:
  • Where and how to start "going global" -- What are the range of models for globalizing your corporate giving program? What are some "do's and don'ts?"
  • Expose issues and resources -- Discuss potential resources for solutions and structures, legal implications, technical requirements and cultural differences, and best practices.
  • Share case studies of how a U.S. based company can effectively engage in philanthropy outside of the U.S.
  • Structural considerations when making donations from the company vs a corporate foundation/foundation fund grant." ~ FORA.tv

Gates Foundation Transformation: Raikes' First Year

Video: Transforming the Gates Foundation: Jeff Raikes' First Year in the Job

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (B&MGF or the Gates Foundation) is the largest transparently operated private foundation in the world, founded by Bill and Melinda Gates. The foundation is "driven by the interests and passions of the Gates family". The primary aims of the foundation are, globally, to enhance healthcare and reduce extreme poverty, and in America, to expand educational opportunities and access to information technology.

The Gates Foundation, based in Seattle, Washington, is controlled by its three trustees: Bill Gates, Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett. Other principal officers include Co-Chair William H. Gates, Sr. and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Raikes. It has an endowment of $35.1 US billion as of October 1, 2008. The scale of the foundation and the way it seeks to apply business techniques to giving makes it one of the leaders in the philanthrocapitalism revolution in global philanthropy, though the foundation itself notes that the philanthropic role has limitations. In 2007 its founders were ranked as the second most generous philanthropists in America.

FYI: 'Ciao' is an Italian word which means 'Hello' and 'Good-bye'. With the title of this blog, I've chosen 'Hello' because I'm greeting AFFLUENCE and welcoming it into my life, blissfully. I aspire to encourage you to do the same, too, if you are not already doing so. So, essentially, we're saying, "Hello, Affluence!"

Visit '2010' and 'Financial Affluence' to watch and listen to videos featuring people that have welcomed affluence into their lives. I believe you'll find them uplifting and inspiring. Their heart's desires are coming true!
