I've known for quite some time, now, that the US Dollar (USD) hasn't been 'backed' by gold for years. Consequently, the USD is rather worthless. It has been changed to fiat money or fiat currency. There was a time when the USD was based on gold, a physical commodity, which meant the USD was commodity money.  It's been stated that many of the world's woes can be attributed to the global fiat currency system.

As Wikipedia details, "Fiat money is money that has value only because of government regulation or law. The term derives from the Latin fiat, meaning "let it be done", as such money is established by government decree. Where fiat money is used as currency, the term fiat currency is used.

Fiat money originated in 11th century China, and its use became widespread during the Yuan and Ming dynasties. Today, all national currencies are fiat currencies, including the US Dollar, the Euro, and all other reserve currencies. This trend began with the Nixon Shock of 1971, which ended the backing by precious metal of the US Dollar.

The term fiat money has been defined variously as:

• any money declared by a government to be legal tender.
• state-issued money which is neither legally convertible to any other thing, nor fixed in value in terms of any objective standard.
• money without intrinsic value.

While specie-backed representative money entails the legal requirement that the bank of issue redeem it in fixed weights of specie, fiat money's value is unrelated to the value of any physical quantity. Even a coin containing valuable metal may be considered fiat currency if its face value is higher than its market value as metal.

A feature of all fiat money is its acceptability to the government for payment of taxes and charges.

Hello, Everyone! As the title suggests, this post is about billionaires that started their path to achieving financial affluence as people experiencing 'poor-ness'. Their stories of affluence-achievement are proof that a person does not have to come from an affluent family nor receive an inheritance first, to achieve financial affluence.

In my last post, 'Couln't We Become Rich & Grow Richer?' I mentioned my desire for each of you to prosper Spiritually, physically and financially. Also, I shared Scripts that can serve as reminders that becoming rich for great, good purposes is our Creator's idea and is His desire for each of us (3 John 1:2). Lastly, I encourage all of us to learn from the people that have gained their wealth morally & legally, are doing great good with it for others, their families and themselves and are growing richer, so that we can become rich, do great good with our affluence and become richer, do more great good, all the while enjoying life as He designed and intended ('From Eden to Today, God's Desire is Heaven's Best').

Couldn't We Become Rich & Grow Richer?

Hello & 'Prosperous New Year', Everyone! I hope 2010 was a 'win-win-win' year for you in which you were a blessing to others, in addition to experiencing being greatly blessed! I hope that 2011 is 'like Heaven' on Earth for you and yours, meaning that I wish and pray that you and yours prosper physically (which includes mentally), financially and Spiritually!

Below, are some Scripts/Scriptures that can serve as a reminder that being rich (the right way) for great, good purposes is our Creator's idea and His desire for each of us, around the world! He desires for us to prosper in three major ways, simultaneously: Spiritually, Physically and Financially.

It's been said, repeatedly, "The rich are getting richer." Well, why don't we learn from the rich ones that gain their wealth morally & legally, do great good with it for others, their families and themselves and grow richer because of such wise generosity and usage of their wealth? If we will take the time to learn from them, all of us can become rich and join that group of the rich that become richer. Afterall, this is what our Creator desires for us, 'to be blessed to be a blessing' and 'to prosper financially and be healthy, even as our soul prospers.' (3 John 1:2).
